At the moment, Y SCHOOLS does not offer any scholarships for international students. You can refer to the Campus France scholarship directory and check if you can be eligible for one of the scholarships listed there: https://www.campusfrance.org/en/bursaries-foreign-students

  • The bachelor program is taught in French.
  • The mastere program is taught in English.

If you are joining the 1st year of the bachelor program, you may choose to join any of the two campuses in Troyes or Metz. The 3rd year in Bachelor is taught on the main campus in Troyes.  The mastere program is taught on the main campus in Troyes.

The cost of living may vary depending on your standards, and depending on the city you will be choosing.

The average monthly rent in Troyes ranges from 300 to 450 euros depending on the type of accommodation.

NEW! CVEC (Contribution Vie Etudiante et de Campus): Compulsory 92€ tax for all freemover students https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/ . Payment certificate and specific number will be delivered automatically; they will have to be presented for online registration at Y SCHOOLS.
Exchange students are exempted

Compulsory residence permit for non-European students holding ‘Visa Etudiant CESEDA R311-3 6° (60 € in 2019/20).

Home insurance: approx. 60 € (compulsory) per year

Student Union (BDE) fees: approx. 25 €/ semester (optional)

Sports Union (BDS) fees: approx. 20 €/ semester (optional)

Compulsory Student Card (includes access to exams, library, photocopies…) given upon arrival.

Re-issues will cost 10€.

Lunch ticket at school: 3,95€

Food: approx. 250 €/ month

Public transport: approx. 35 €/ month

To get to Troyes from Paris, the simplest way is to take a train from Gare de l’Est, (travel time: 90 minutes): https://www.oui.sncf/

The easiest way to get to Metz from Paris is to take the train: 1hr30mins by TGV high-speed train: https://www.oui.sncf/
There’s a smaller airport near Metz: https://lorraineairport.com/ (website in French only, this is how small this airport is)
You may also consider landing in Luxembourg (https://www.lux-airport.lu/), taking city bus n°16 from the airport to Luxembourg City train station (city buses are free in Luxembourg), and then take a regional train from Luxembourg to Metz (https://www.oui.sncf/).

From Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport to Troyes:

By RER and Metro:

  • At your arrival at the airport go to the and buy a ticket to Paris: get on the train
    heading to «SAINT-REMY-LES-CHEVREUSE».Look at the following map of the metro !
  • Get off RER B at station GARE DU NORD but stay in the metro because you have to
    take another metro line, and follow signs to Métro Ligne 4, it’s the purple line on your metro map, heading to PORTE D’ORLEANS.
    Get off METRO 4 at station GARE DE L’EST, follow the signs GARE SNCF.
  • You must go upstairs, watch the big screens which will display your train number, time, and the platform your train leaves from.
    Remember to punch your ticket in the small yellow machine when entering the platform before boarding the train!
    Or ask: Où est-ce que je peux composter mon billet ? “where can I punch my ticket?” (If you do not punch your ticket, you will be liable to a fine).

By taxi:
If you prefer you can take a taxi at the airport to the GARE DE L’EST directly.

By bus:
At the airport go to the shuttle 1 and take the bus 350 until GARE DE L’EST.
Generally there is one every 20-30 minutes.

From Orly airport to Troyes:

RER and Metro:
At the airport follow signs (bus) and take the direction of Paris.

  • Get off at station ANTONY and take heading to AEROPORT CHARLES DE GAULLE and get off at station GARE DU NORD, but stay in the station.
  • Then, follow signs M4 heading to PORTE D’ORLEANS, take this train and get off at station GARE DE L’EST.
  • Go upstairs, and if you already have your train ticket, watch the big screens which will display your train number, time, and the platform your train leaves from. If you don’t have a ticket you have to buy one and then watch the big screens to find your train.

 

From Orly airport to Metz :

By RER and Metro:

  • At your arrival at the airport go to RER B the and buy a ticket to Paris: get on the train
    heading to «SAINT-REMY-LES-CHEVREUSE».Look at the following map of the metro !
  • Get off RER B at station GARE DU NORD but stay in the metro because you have to
    take another metro line, and follow signs to Métro Ligne 4, it’s the purple line on your metro map, heading to Gare de l’EST.
  • Take the train from Paris est to Metz Ville

When you are admitted, you receive an email informing you so, and asking you to pay for a down payment (2 200euros). When we receive the down payment, we send you the official admission documents with which you can apply for the student visa.

There is a student restaurant on the main campus in Troyes, where you can have a full meal for 3,95 euros, and also a cafeteria.
On the campus in Metz, there is a lunch area with microwaves, boilers and a sink. You can bring your own food and sit there for your meal. There is also a vending machine for snacks and drinks.

All international students attending Y SCHOOLS are required by law to have health insurance, which covers the stay in France.

A French bank account is compulsory to get the housing benefit. We will help you to open one if needed.

Provide a valid identity document and buy a prepaid chip or make a commitment with a French telephone operator. Today, many operators offer international packages.

You are strongly advised to attend Welcoming Ceremony & Orientation. You will be guided on academic matters and school life.

  • Visa ‘Etudiant’ ‘CESEDA R311-3 6°’ (to be validated on line through OFII within 3 months): this type of visa is given to students who come for an academic year, and sometimes for a semester: compulsory procedures once in France to get an extension (with help of International Office): online payment of official tax with OFII, French Immigration Bureau (60 € in 2019/20), in Troyes. With this type of visa, you may apply to CAF and work in France (60% of legal working hours).

2 months before the end of your visa, you will have to apply for a “1ère demande de carte de séjour” (first demand for Residence permit) with the help of the Mobility Department (office F020)

  • Visa “Long séjour temporaire” “Dispense temporaire de carte de séjour”: this type of visa is generally given to students who come and stay for one semester. There is no special procedure to go through once in France, but students are not entitled to apply for CAF housing benefit, and are not allowed to work.
